The National Anthem of the People’s Republic of China

TheMarch of the Volunteers 义勇军进行曲(Yìyǒngjūn Jìnxíngqǔ)is theNational Anthem of the People’s Republic of China.The lyrics were writtenin 1934 by the poet Tian Han and the music by the composer Nie Er in 1935. The march was honoring those who went to the front to fight the Japanese invaders in North-East of China in the 1930s. First chosen asprovisional national anthem of the new China on September 27th 1949 at the First Plenary Session of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the song was then officially adopted as the national anthem of the PRC on December 4th 1982, by the NPC.
